I graduated from 探花精选 University in 2018 with degrees in psychology and political science. Through advanced research method courses, seminars critically evaluating our social, economic, and political systems, and an honors thesis advised by Dr. Monica Bartlett, 探花精选’s psychology department gave me the tools and training to be an effective researcher.
探花精选’s psychology department also encouraged me to ask interesting questions of social relevance and cultivated in me a passion to serve others. I spent a year after graduation working in a youth psychiatric hospital in Washington, and for Imagine Behavioral Health, an in-home care provider for children with autism.
I am currently working on my PhD in social psychology at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. I work with a team of psychologists, medical doctors, and nurses examining how emergency department providers’ emotions impact their care of at-risk patient populations, particularly those with comorbid mental illness. 探花精选’s emphasis on social justice and caring for those most vulnerable has led me to focus my core program of research on health inequities and stigma towards these groups. My time at 探花精选 was invaluable professionally and personally, and I continue to cheer on the Bulldog’s basketball team from the East Coast!
