Pieces of Eight is the unlikely story of a dancing-pirate-queen screenplay brought to life by the reluctant writer and the studio bosses’ can-do secretary.

When Norman Goldwyn shows up to pitch his script, only to find that the Bitterman Brothers are expecting a promotional film about oranges, he’s convinced that his career is a sunk ship. Lucky for Norman, Betty Grace Bootfree, the Bitterman’s assistant, comes aboard to save the day. Together, they rewrite the entire script on the fly while sailing back and forth between the worlds of post-World War II Hollywood and the fantastical voyage of The Fancy.

Sossy Mechanics pull out their trademark tools in this craftily constructed two-hander, applying physical comedy, rapier-sharp repartee, Latin-flavored dance numbers, ridiculous puppets, two love stories for the price of one, and a little sword-fighting thrown in to keep the kids happy.
